Visualization and graphics capabilities are delivered across a PCI Express graphics bus - doubling the bandwidth of AGP 8x and increasing the performance of Sun's existing PCI-based graphics solutions. Sun's new XVR-2500 3-D graphics accelerator, with over 80 million peak -D Gouraud-shaded X-buffered triangles per second, delivers a 2.6x performance improvement over Sun's previous generation XVR-1200.

The Sun Ultra 45 Workstation boost capacity and storage options over previous generations, offering dual Gigabit Ethernet, five I/O expansion slots - two PCI Express x156 slots (x8 logically), one PCI Express slot (x4 logically) and two PCI-X 100 MHz full-length expansion slots - and support for up to four 250-GB internal STA hard drives. With a maximum memory of up to 16 gigabytes and a terabyte of internal storage, the Sun Ultra 45 Workstation has the capacity to handle datasets of any size.
